Meta Advantage+ is the umbrella name for Meta Ads' AI automation features: from campaigns where the system decides audience, placements and budget, to single settings you can switch on inside a manual campaign. Understanding each piece avoids the most common mistake: thinking "Advantage+" is a single campaign type, when it is really a family of options.

What Advantage+ includes

On its official page, Meta splits the offer into two groups: end-to-end solutions, where AI automates the audience, placements and budget of the whole campaign, and single-step solutions, which automate one specific part (audience, placements, budget or creative) inside a campaign you still set up yourself.

From "Advantage+ shopping" to "Advantage+ sales"

In February 2025 Meta announced, as reported by Social Media Today, that Advantage+ shopping campaigns (ASC) were being renamed Advantage+ sales campaigns "to better reflect the full range of advertisers that can benefit". In the same announcement it introduced a streamlined setup so advertisers no longer have to choose between a manual campaign and ASC, and extended Advantage+ to leads campaigns.

The numbers Meta gives (and how to read them)

Meta said that in early testing, leads campaigns with Advantage+ turned on achieved a 10% lower cost per qualified lead, and that advertisers who adopted its new opportunity score (0 to 100) recommendations saw a 5% median decrease in cost per result. These are Meta's own figures with no public methodology: treat them as hypotheses to validate with your own A/B tests, not as a promise.

How to run a fair test

  1. Fix measurement first. Advantage+ optimises towards the event you pick. If the pixel or Conversions API drop events, the system learns from incomplete data.
  2. Compare against your best manual campaign, with the same objective, the same conversion event and a comparable budget.
  3. Allow learning time before judging and avoid big changes during the test.
  4. Measure outside Meta too: sales in your store or CRM, not only what Ads Manager reports.
  5. Watch the creative: with automated targeting, creative is the main lever left to you.

A change to note in November 2026

According to PPC Land, from 12 November 2026 the Meta pixel turns on "measure conversions on customer devices" by default; it does not apply to people in the EU or the UK. If you run Advantage+ campaigns outside Europe, compare conversions before and after that date before attributing performance changes to the campaign.

Checklist

  • A stable primary conversion event, deduplicated between pixel and Conversions API.
  • Enough, varied catalogue items and creative.
  • Any brand or regulatory exclusions defined before launch.
  • A manual control campaign to compare against.
  • A review schedule that leaves the campaign alone during learning.
